Marriage rates are facing decline, as couples despise town hall ceremonies and church weddings, which now account for only one third of all marriages. Couples love getting married in stately homes, luxury hotels and historic buildings or some other strange settings.
Only 232,990 weddings took place in England and Wales, 35,000 fewer than last 10 years and about 120,000 fewer than in 1981. According t the statistics, about 426,1000 young couples were eager to get married, in the year 1940 , contrary to which, only 147,130 marriages took place in the year 2008. Less than 10% of the cohabiting relationships last ever to their tenth anniversary.
The average age of tying the auspicious knot in 2008 was 32.1 for men and 29.9 for women, which is three years older than the average bride and groom in the year 1998.
According to Jill Kirby, Director of Centre for Policy Studies, public policy needs to support and encourage marriage so that the children are not exposed to the risk of break up.
The bride and groom want to make their wedding day grand, by all means. They desire to celebrate the wedding day for several days and choose venues, which are easily approachable by their relatives and friends.
