It was recently specified by Singapore's Keppel Corp., the world's largest builder of offshore oil rigs, that its quarter net profit climbed 6 percent from a year earlier as rig income grew.
On Thursday, Keppel confirmed a net profit - before exceptional items - of 317 million Singapore dollars ($220 million) for the three months ended June 30, compared with SG$299 million a year earlier.
Via a statement, company said: "At the interim of this very challenging year, we have managed to produce a modest growth in our operating results."
A hike was also noticed in revenues by 21 percent to SG$3.2 billion in the second quarter.
According to Keppel, there was a fall by SG$7.7 billion from SG$9.5 billion, in its orders for marine and offshore business at the end of the first quarter.
June also saw the completion of the sale of Keppel's stake in Singapore Petroleum Co. to PetroChina Co. for SG$1.5 billion.
