Tiger Airways expedites expansion efforts

Tiger-Airways-LogoTiger Airways, the low cost carrier based in Singapore, gave a push to its expansion plans in Asia and Australia by advancing the delivery of five Airbus A320 aircrafts. The carrier, 49 percent owned by Singapore Airlines, said that it would get the delivery of aircrafts by this year against the scheduled delivery in 2006.

Tony Davis, the Chief Executive of the carrier expressed, "In view of the opportunities for us to grow our business in both Asia and Australia, we have accelerated delivery of these five new aircraft from their original delivery dates in 2016 to now join our fleet later this year and in early 2011."

The budget carrier, having operations in Asia and Australia, has completed all formalities through Standard Chartered Bank for getting aircrafts delivery ahead of schedule. Tiger currently have a fleet of 17 Airbus A320 aircrafts and is working out to raise them to 68 by December 2015.

The carrier ordered a total of 66 aircrafts from Airbus for increasing flights from three locations including Singapore's Changi Airport Budget Terminal, Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne and Adelaide Airport, Australia.
