As the gaming consoles continue to compete with each other furiously to gain more and more attention and attract more sales, Microsoft's XBox 360 seems to have emerged as a winner, at least according to the data released by Nielsen.
As per the market researcher's findings, the XBox 360 is the most used console when measured with regards to its share of the total usage minutes, making up for 23.1% of the total gaming time. PlayStation 2 follows next with 20.4% share and Nientendo Wii falls in the third place with a usage time of 19%.
Very surprisingly, Sony's PlayStation 3 did not manage to make it to the top-three.
Also, the company shared that 54% of homes across America own a game console or a handheld system, and till date, about 41% of the homes have managed to brag a current generation console.
Also, interestingly, Neilsen shared that about 45% of the total active gamers' market is represented by female players, who play for at least 1 hour each week, most of who prefer the PlayStation and Wii consoles.
