Lenovo to Launch U1 Hybrid Notebook

Lenovo is all set to launch its latest hybrid computer at CES 2010. Overcoming the deficiencies of slate tablet, Lenovo has come up with its IdeaPad U1 Hybrid in advance of the CES tradeshow.

The IdeaPad U1 is a slate tablet operating on a Qualcomm Snapdragon ARM CPU complimented with the Skylight Linux interface when a user is on the move, and if one docks it back into the clamshell, it seamlessly switches back to a Windows 7 operating system, running on the latest Intel Core 2 Duo U4100 processor.

The architecture permits the revolutionary U1 Hybrid to have two processors and two operating systems, in order to provide maximum flexibility.

The notebook has an 11.6-inch LED-lit display and manifestsin a 3.8-pound undocked tablet. However, the docked notebook weighs 3.8 pounds.

Both operating systems operate under their own hardware specifications. The slate half has an internal 16-Gbyte flash drive, while laptop mode runs on up to a 128-GB SSD. However, Windows 7 uses 4 GB of DDR3 RAM; the Qualcomm ARM processor, on the other hand, is married to 512 Mbytes of DDR1 RAM.

The model possess features such as three USB ports, built-in Wi-Fi, VGA, HDMI, Ethernet (RJ-45), and a 4-in-1 reader (Multi-Media Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, Secure Digital Card).

The device can attack your pockets, costing around $999 and would be on display at CES this week and is set to ship in June of this year.
