Sony announces three new Cyber-shot point-and-shoot camerasAfter having introduced the DSC-W610, DSC-W620, and DSC-W650 entry-level cameras earlier this month at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Sony has now announced three new Cyber-shot point-and-shoot camera models – the DSC-WX50; the DSC-WX70; and the DSC-TX200V.

All the three newly-announced cameras from Sony are equipped with 5x zoom lenses as well as Exmor R CMOS sensors; and will hit the store this March – one month after the scheduled February release of the cameras announced at the CES.

The WX50 and WX70 – to be priced at $200 and $230 respectively – are both slim shooters, and are fairly akin to each other in form as well as function. Some of the most attractive features of these cameras include a 25-125mm f/2.6-6.3 Carl Zeiss zoom lens; a 16-megapixel back-illuminated image sensor; 1080i60 video capture; and optical image stabilization. However, while the WX50 has a 2.7-inch, 460k dot screen; the WX70 features a bigger and sharper 3-inch, 921k dot touch-screen LCD.

Meanwhile, the $500-priced TX200V is an entirely new camera model, which features 3.3-inch touch screen features OLED technology, a glass front plate and a super-slim body. Sealed against dust and water, the 18-megapixel point-and-shoot camera boasts a 5x (26-130mm) zoom lens; Carl Zeiss optics; 1080i60 movie capture; GPS; and optical image stabilization. In addition, the TX2000 can autofocus in as little as 0.1 second in bright light; and is compatible with Memory Stick Micro and microSD memory.
