Facebook launches 'Listen With' music button

Facebook launches 'Listen With' music buttonOn Thursday, popular social network Facebook commenced the rollout of its new “Listen With Friends” feature, which will give a notable boost to the Facebook users’ social experience of listening to music online.

The new feature – which will expand the size of Facebook’s Open Graph initiative – will not only allow the users of the social network to listen to songs online with their Facebook friends, but will also give them the advantage of chatting about the music while it is playing.

In addition, the new "Listen With” button introduced by Facebook will allow users of music services like Rdio and Spotify to share exactly the same song, at the same point in the song, through the music service; provided that both the parties are the registered users of the service.

Noting that the new feature will also give the users the ability to control who sees when they, along with their Facebook friend, are listening to a song online, Facebook elaborated in a Help Center post that only those people with whom users have shared their listening activity will be able to see them when they are listening to music with a friend.

The new feature, which will enable Facebook users to control privacy settings in music apps, and also remove songs they have listened to from their timeline on their private activity log, is already being rolled out to the social network users; and will likely become available to all users in the coming weeks.
