Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab reportedly on “won’t see Android 4.0” list

Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab reportedly on “won’t see Android 4.0” listAccording to the Verge, a recent post on the Samsung tomorrow blog has revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S handset - which is the second best-selling smartphone ever for Samsung - will not be officially upgraded to the latest Android iteration, the Android version 4.0 `Ice Cream Sandwich' (ICS).

In addition, the blog post has also mentioned that yet another popular Samsung device which, unfortunately, features on the "won't see Android 4.0" list is the Galaxy Tab tablet computer.

Going by the raison d'etre that has been underscored in the Samsung Tomorrow blog for the Galaxy S handset and the Galaxy Tab not getting the ICS upgrade, the company has given a rather lame excuse, saying that its own customized TouchWiz user interface is the reason behind the giving the two popular devices a miss when it comes to an ICS update.

The stance that Samsung is seemingly taking in the case of the ICS upgrade for its older devices hints at a financial undercurrent. The company probably feels that since returns have already accrued from the sales of these devices, the task of bringing on Android ICS to them will require an investment in terms of time, effort, and money --- a move for which Samsung clearly has no financial incentive.

The decision which Samsung seems to be taking by missing the ICS upgrade for its older devices can largely be seen as a bad decision, given the fact that the customers often tend to switch to competing product if they feel neglected!
