As confirmed by Research in Motion, the BlackBerry maker, on Tuesday, the company is working towards resolving a technical issue which has led to substantial delays in e-mail messaging on all smartphones across North and South America.
While the normal calling and texting functions seem to be unharmed, users across America are complaining that they have been unable to send or receive e-mails. Soon-to-be BlackBerry users displayed their frustration through tweets on the popular social micro-blogging site Twitter.
Some users have even suggested that they cannot connect to the internet.
In an official statement released, Waterloo, Ontario-based Research in Motion Ltd., has apologized for "inconvenience experienced by customers".
The incident has marked the second time in less than a week that North American BlackBerry users have had to deal with a snag which has directly affected e-mails. Last Thursday, RIM had confirmed that its technicians had managed to isolate and successfully resolve a similar problem, and investigation are being carried out to uncover the cause.
