Court reinstates Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales ban in Australia

Court reinstates Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales ban in AustraliaThe Apple-Samsung lawsuit, involving the release of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1tablet in Australia, took yet another turn on Thursday when Australian High Court Justice John Dyson Heydon blocked the overturning of the Galaxy tab sales ban through December 9.

The Thursday ruling by the court comes close on the heels of a Tuesday verdict which overturned the initial ruling pertaining to the preliminary injunction that banned the sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the country --- a ban that has been in effect since October 12.

According to a report from Bloomberg Businessweek, the one week extension of the recently-reversed ban of Galaxy 10.1 tablet sales in Australia essentially coincides with the scheduled court date set for the deliberation on Apple will be allowed to appeal.

Immediately after the overturning of the ban on Tuesady, Apple had revealed its intentions of appealing the latest ruling with the High Court; and the company was subsequently granted the request of having the injunction in place till it completed the process of filing for the appeal.

In the wake of the reinstatement of the preliminary sales injunction, Samsung has stated that it intends shelving its plans of releasing the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia if it cannot sell the device there before Christmas.

Towards that end, and drawing attention to the fact that holiday sales were crucial for Samsung, the company's lawyer Katrina Howard had already told Judge Heydon in court that "even one day can make a difference."
