Samsung projects 2 million sales of new Galaxy Note device

Samsung projects 2 million sales of new Galaxy Note device Samsung Electronics has recently released the Galaxy Note - the company's newest Android based device - in the domestic South Korea markets; and has projected that the sales of the new handset will touch two million.

However, the company has refrained from mentioning any timeline with regard to its forecast about the sales of the Galaxy Note hitting the `two million units' mark.

The fact that the Galaxy Note - which is already available in the other countries - includes a 5.3-inch display underscores that the `larger than smartphones but smaller than tablets' screen of the handset could evidently be an indication that Samsung is looking for a head start in the market for a device that amalgamates the functions of a smartphone with that of a tablet.

According to the information shared by Samsung, which has also recently launched the Galaxy Nexus, the first handset to be powered by the Android's latest `Ice Cream Sandwich' version, the Galaxy Note is a device which boasts a notable combination of the portability of a smartphone and the bigger display of a tablet computer.

Terming the Galaxy Note as a "revolutionary product," JK Shin -the chief of mobile communications business at Samsung - said in a statement that the device will essentially mark the opening up of "a new category in the market."
