Temasek Holdings Net Profit over Doubles in the Year to MarchOwing to increased contributions from investments and enhanced profits from its portfolio companies, Temasek Holding’s net profits has over doubled in the year to March, as its group net profit rose to S$13 billion from S$5 billion in the year before this year.

Also, the Group’s net value investment portfolio recorded S$193 billion, higher than S$186 billion in the past year, which was as a result of market values and returns from investments made by Temasek during that period, majorly in Asia and other growing regions.

Dr. Bernard Lee, a research fellow at Singapore Management University's International Trading Institute, stated, "Depending on the specific choice of investable indices, Temasek's portfolio is likely to have outperformed a comparable basket of investable indices".

However, Temasek's investment portfolio still focuses on Asia, with 32% in Singapore as well as 45% in the rest of Asia. The rest of its investments are in regions, which includes the North America, Latin America and the Middle East.

Moreover, in Asia, China is said to be Temasek's major investment location outside Singapore, as it consist of about 20% of the Group's total investment portfolio. Irrespective of the sales of important stakes in 2 major Chinese banks, Temasek remains calm with its position in China and is still exploring investment opportunities in the country.
