PowerSeraya Introduces Reap to Educate People with Electricity-Saving Measures

PowerSeraya Introduces Reap to Educate People with Electricity-Saving MeasuresPowerSeraya in order to raise awareness about the energy consumption among the households in Singapore had introduced Responsible Energy Advocates Programme (Reap) along with various institutions in the region.

The programme was channeled since 2010 with 15 students who were trained to educate 15 families on saving energy. Three of these households managed to save 10 % energy within three months. This program comes as part of Singapore’s continuous '10% Energy Challenge' campaign, which was led by the National Environment Agency (NEA) to encourage households in Singapore to cut their electricity usage.

As per Mr. John Ng, Chief Executive of PowerSeraya, “Reap enables the company to make meaningful contributions in an area close to our heart - a focus on energy conservation which can help mitigate the effects of climate change. This programme benefits students who can learn from the experience, as well as residents who can reduce their energy bills and do their part for the environment at the same time”.

In the year 2011, PowerSeraya had selected 30 students to be trained, the company was also going to invest $150,000 into the programme over the next five years. The company targeted educating 250 families with electricity saving measures.
