South Korean mobile carrier company, SK Telecom has said that they are going to offer 4G LTE phones. It would be doing so from September and is targeting to meet the growing demand for the fourth-generation network.
4G allows the users to download videos and games on their smartphones at a speed which is much higher than the current 3G network.
The offerings are first going to be made in the phones of Samsung Electronics Co. and HTC Corp. They are the first ones to have come up with these phones. SK telecom is planning to offer the phones this year itself and would also be providing two tablet computers for supporting the network, which will be there by October.
The commercial services of the handset are going to be this year and the expansion of the same would start by 2013. For the same, an investment of 2 trillion won ($1.9 billion) by 2014 is what has been planned and looking at the exact rise in the number of subscribers the number is going to be changed.
Since the news came, shares of SK Telecom have risen.
