A furious effort has been made to snuff out the usage of tobacco to underage people by The HAS (Health Sciences Authority).
A retail dealer’s license is cancelled and postponed for 6 months, were taken on remand with other 10 dealers who had to pay fine $2000 for selling tobacco to below the age of 18 inhabitants. Among them 7-11 were of Cathay Cineleisure Orchard and Hougang and mom-and-pop stores in the heartland.
It would put in force to prevent the selling this to people of underage, stated by Health Sciences Authority.
Ever since 2006, every year almost 4 suspensions of licenses of store dealers are done. Penalties were increased from previous year Dec. as for the 1st offence -suspension of 6 months of license of retail dealer & for the 2nd offence cancellation of the licenses.
A retail store Tan Bee Hwa of Whampoa Drive, is getting an each month loss of nearby $3000 due to cancellation of license. Other ten sinful sellers which include 2 above 7-11 stores, licenses of them would be suspended & 1 license of a retail store in which a staff was selling it to below age student, would be cancelled through the HAS. Eleven shops would have to pay fine.
A caution is given by the Health Sciences Authority that sinful tobacco seller would be punished strictly for selling of tobacco to students in uniform of school, below 18 age people and for the 1st offence license would be cancelled if the student would be under age of twelve. For selling of these goods the tobacco seller are responsible even their staffs are selling it.
The people involved in these would have to pay fine about $5000 and about $10000 in respect of 1st & 2nd offence.
