SIA fills 74.6% of available seats in April

singapore airlinesIn April Singapore Airlines (SIA) has filled 74.6 per cent of its available seats. There was a decline of 3 percentage points which was compared to the previous year.

Though there was a rise in the number of passengers carried, it increased by 6.3 per cent touching to 1.4 million. This increase was due to the carrier increased capacity.

The airline in the March has launched services to Sao Paulo via Barcelona.

The capacity of the SIA's existing destinations like Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Male and Taipei was increased.

However there was a shortfall in loads for the East Asian region. SIA has said that this was partly due to weaker demand on Japan routes in the consequences of the earthquake and tsunami in past days.

Cargo capacity has gone up by 10.3 percent, while overall cargo traffic improved by 11.8 percent. The increment of the capacity has led to the rise of 0.9 percentage point improvement in cargo load factor (CLF). CLF has resulted best in the Southwest Pacific as stated by the airlines.
