Greece does not appear to have met the terms of its international rescue package of late, as stated by European Central Bank Governing Council member Ewald Nowotny today.
According to Austrian Kronen Zeitung, Nowotny had apparently said that Greece seems not have to met the terms and conditions sufficiently recently, and that the concern over privatisations is going to be the most sensitive point here.
This seemed to be the debut public confirmation of a joint inspection group from the ECB, the European Commission as well as the International Monetary Fund currently in Athens having lacunae in the Greek implementation of its bailout scheme.
According to statements made by Greek government sources to Reuters yesterday, the troika inspectors were pressurizing Athens for further reducing public spending in order to fill up a probably deficit in the revenue this year.
According to a senior government official requesting his anonymity, they are creating an opinion amongst themselves that difficulties exist, and that they are highly disturbed by the high risk revenue targets that they fear will be failed to be met and are therefore pressurizing for further spending reductions.
