On Friday, Toyota Motor Corporation announced that it will resume its production globally by November or December. At present, Toyota plants in Japan are operating at their 50% capacity.
TM President Akio Toyoda said that production will increase from July only while outside Japan, the production will increase from August due to delay in shipping from Japan. He also said that once everything comes back to normal, the company will regain its benefit as it is operating before the disaster of March 11.
Carmakers in Japan are going through tough time since March 11, when Japan was hit by massive earthquake and tsunami. Among many automakers, Toyota Motor Corp. also suffers from this disaster. In March its car production plunged 62.7%.
The company recorded its domestic production in March as 129,491 vehicles, reported on Monday. While its global production dropped 29.9 percent year-on-year to 542,465 vehicles for the month, due to severe shortage in the supply of auto parts.
For the time being, Toyota has to halt its production services in Japan due to supply crunch, which has resulted in a production loss of 260,000 cars.
