After Japan being hit by earthquake and tsunami disaster all the auto companies of the world are facing shortage of auto components as Japan is the major exporter of all these components. Toyota also faces the problem of shortage and thus announced to reduce auto production at its Chinese plants by 50-70 percent until June 3.
Earlier also because of the crisis Toyota has announced interruptions in the production domestically and in the US, European Union and Australia.
Toyota said in a statement that China will cut its production from Thursday and further increase in the production after June 3 depends upon the availability of components.
Toyota has made this announcement soon after Japan declared its trade surplus slumped almost 80 percent in March, the first drop in 16 months, because of the impact of last month's earthquake-tsunami.
There will be a shortfall of 80,000 vehicles during the period of slowdown production announced by Toyota spokesman in Japan.
Nolasco said that total production deficit for North America, Europe, Japan and China until June 3 will come to nearly 540,000 units excluding data for Australia, the Middle East and South America.
