Sales of newly built homes in Singapore for the year 2009 is expected to reach about 14500 which is second only to the year 2007 when the number of unit sales reached about 14811.
The statistics this year show that the rise was due to the fact that the mass market has been dominating, and also because more number of mid-tier homes was sold when compared to the number of high-end homes in the prime areas like Core Central Region this year.
It is a notable fact that the number of mid-tier homes sold in the year 2009 comprised of more than 60 per cent of the total sales while the number of high-end home units comprised of more than 64 per cent of the total sales in the year 2007.
The mid-tier homes got a good and strong start and the sales began climbing only in the second half of this year. It has been reported that the price of per square foot, which is currently $1000, is expected to cross the boundary in locations which are near the city or the MRT station.
