The current situation at Fukushima remains serious and sea water around Fukushima has been found to be radioactive but Singapore's coastal waters remain safe.

Authorities are claiming that Singapore is more than 5,000 kilometers away from Japan and there were very less chances that radioactive material reaches country’s water but even if it reaches the impact is "inconsequential because by the time any radioactive material reaches Singapore water it would have been diluted to "insignificant levels".

The PUB, Singapore water authority is continuously monitoring drinking supply from Japan and has investigate country's inland and drinking water to be well within the safety level stipulated by the World Health Organisation.

At the same time, the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority are also keeping a close surveillance on food import from Japan. Few shipments of vegetables from Japan were found to be affected by Radiation.
