Group set up to keep tabs on profiteering

lee-yi-shyanThe Singaporeans has not been largely affected by the huge spike of food prices in the country. They may rest assured as the suppliers are not going to take the advantage of them by raising the cost of food items further.

The Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Lee Yi Shyan has introduced the Retail Price Watch Group (RPWG). This has been launched on Friday. The Retail Price Watch Group will keep its eye on the prices of the food items. It will also take action against the suppliers who will raise prices haphazardly to trouble the consumers.

The minister has also indicted that the group of 13 will have a meet at least once in every month. They will have a review of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for food.

They will monitor the frequently chaining price pressure and also look after any of the hike in this system. It will also organize educational campaigns for the consumers to make the public know all about the mitigate prices hikes.
