Japanese electronics major Sony has announced its third quarter financial results. Company has reported a decline in its profit figure. As per the company officials, the profit of the firm in the quarter under review has gone down by 8.6 per cent. This has been reported in an announcement on Thursday.
The company has also mentioned that the growing strength of the yen and the decline in the LCD TV prices cast a shadow over its profit in this quarter. Sony has products like Bravia televisions and Cyber-shot cameras in its product line.
The majority of the sales of Sony come from outside Japan. Strength of the yen has made its product more expensive in these overseas markets and pulled the revenue down. It has affected the bottom line of the company as well.
Sony has mentioned that it has registered a net profit of 72.3 billion yen for the third quarter that ended in this December. It has managed to beat the expected profit of 66 billion that the analysts have predicted earlier.
