Yesterday Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam has said in the Parliament that the Government will be attentive on issues like inflation and low-income in the society.
The old Singaporeans will help to control the rising prices of staples i. e. soya beans, wheat, and sugar and liquid things. This is due to the fact that the commodity prices have touched their highest level across the region.
He has admitted that, for Singapore food price inflation has become a serious topic amid high demand from China and also bad weather has interrupted the supply. However, he has assured that, next month budget will lay emphasis on these measures. By doing so, they could lessen the impact of inflation on families which have no income or less income.
The Government has been alert to the problems which are faced by these households as stated by Mr. Tharman. Moreover, it has provided essential help to them over the past year.
The consumer price index has increased to 3.8 per cent during November from its value a year ago. This was the highest inflation rate since January 2009.
