Since the General elections in May 2006, the registers of the voters has been updated for the third time. This news has raised speculations in the timing of the next polls in Singapore.
The polls are next due in February, and this move for the MPs and political observers will ensure that there is more number of eligible voters.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Monday has published a notice in the government gazette that the new revision should be complete before Feb 28. After the completion of the revision work, the new register will be containing names of all the Singaporeans eligible to vote as on Jan one this year.
The new entrants in the register will be including the immigrants with Singaporean citizenship since Feb 1st 2010 and also the Singaporean who turned into legal 21. The revision details will be out in a fortnight.
The annualized GDP for 2010 in Singapore was 6.9 percent in the fourth quarter. Services sector witnessed a growth of 8.8 per cent, while the construction sector experienced a minor pullback recording a one per cent decline.
