Technology giant Sony has again created a buzz in the camera market with its latest offerings. With a view to raise its market share in the camera market to 40% from 35% the company took everyone by a pleasant surprise when it launched the NEX 5 and NEX 3 series which are supposedly the worlds smallest and lightest digital cameras with interchangeable lens.
Sony India Senior General Manager Sunil Nayyar further went on to add that this range will look to end the gap between consumers and professionals. He also was very upbeat when he announced that sales figures have jumped from Rs. 600 crore to Rs. 900 crore for the fiscal year 2011.
The company’s three main sectors of work would be Camera, LCDs and Laptops where it plans to sell around 40,000 units. He also said that 2 percent increment in the market share was achieved in the current fiscal and he was aiming at 5 percent increase in the next fiscal year.
In the camera market Sony had sold 2.5 million units in the current fiscal which it hopes to take to 3.3 million in the next one.
