There were reports of illegal iron ore mining taking place in the Obulapuram Mining Company from Andhra Pradesh, which is under the ownership of much famous Reddy brothers has now received orders from High Court. The Andhra Pradesh high court has now intervened and instructed the CBI to probe into the case.
Nisar Ahmad Kakru and justice Vilas V Afzalpurkar who constitute the 2 member bench in high court have ruled out the stay on CBI probe and have thus decided against the previous decision by a single judge.
The company is not only facing charges of illegal mining in areas not under Obulapuram Mining Company but also is facing charges for evading royalty fee, road tax and other revenues that amount to a whooping 3200 crore and cause a dent to the Andhra exchequer.
This decision of high court will come in handy as apart from this company other companies involved in illegal mining will also be caught in Anantapur and Bellary districts. Initially a single judge had issued stay on this issue by an application from OMC.
