The Kalpaneya Yatre 2010 has started at the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium. It is an astronomy festival that will go on till 5th December.
The festival mainly aims to popularize astronomy. It gives a bird's eye view of astronomy, and caters to people of all age groups, and not just kids.
The exhibition is sporting a number of themes, a few being Mask of the Universe, Sun and the Solar System, Science of Starlight, The Universe and Space Exploration.
There are also various interesting activities like watch a Film, Ask an Astronomer, Peer through the Telescope, See the Sun in 3D and Listen to a Lecture which are attracting huge crowds.
Pramod G Galgali, deputy director, Bangalore Association for Science Education is of the opinion that this is a platform for the people to gain a lot of knowledge about the solar system.
The exhibition is being held in both English and Kannada, the two mainly spoken languages in the area, and is open to visitors from 10am to 6pm every day. The entry is free for children less than 16 years of age, and is only Rs
