Electronics major, Sony has claimed that it has sold more than 1 million units to retailers set in North America and Latin America in the first 30 days of its launch.
The highly anticipated Move controller for PlayStation 3 video-game console was launched on September 19 in the United States. The good initial response shows that the device has been widely accepted by PS3 users.
"Retail demand is incredibly strong and we're working hard to keep the product in stock," Jack Tretton chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment America, said in a statement.
Sony is struggling to keep up with the demand and Mr. Tretton says that it does not expect the supply to be in line with demand until February 2011. He said that the company will have to double production as it is starched to the maximum now.
Sony accepts game publishers and developers to start upgrading popular titles and release new games. The company says that there are a couple of dozen titles available for Move.
The Move controller works as its competitor Nintendo Wii. The wireless wand records movements and transfers user movements to the screen.
