Co-founder of the world’s third largest social network, Twitter, Mr. Evan Williams has said that the site would achieve one billion users mark.
He did not chalk out any timeframe for the microblogging site to achieve the target. Rival and world’s largest social networking site, Facebook recently announced that it has more than half a billion active users and its CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg claimed that it will reach the mark of one billion soon. It will take some time for the site to reach the mark, according to the Google Adplanner. The site has 98 million users as per the third-quarter social media. The site had 80 million users, and grew to 96 million users by the end of the second quarter.
Twitter said that it has more than 165 million registered users. Mr. Williams said that these users will not be the same people who operate a Facebook account. He said that eh site adds more than 1.8 million every week and users on the site send more than 100 million tweets daily.
