The BlackBerry service offered by Research in Motion (RIM) in the UAE will not be banned in the country, according to the country's telecommunications regulator.
"BlackBerry services are now compliant with the UAE's telecommunications regulatory framework," the announced the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of UAE. The statement said that all the services will continue as normal and the services will not be suspended.
The encryption technology of the company has made its data services difficult to be intercepted by security officials in several countries. Concerns were raised in countries including UAE, Saudi Arabia and India where the company was asked to provide access to its data services or face a ban. Lebanon and Indonesia have also said that they are considering similar plans.
Meanwhile, the company is facing October 31 deadline to provide access or face a ban in the country. The major concerns are with the corporate version of the BlackBerry e-mail system, which is impossible to intercept unless the company provides access to its servers.
