For the past five years regularly the Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Hospital has been organizing the “World Heart Run Day”. This year too for the sixth consecutive year they will organize this event on September 26 to observe the “World Heart Day”. The theme of the Day this year is “I Work with Heart.”
Almost 3,000 to 5,000 people have participated in the event every year for the last five years. The event follows the motto- Spirit matters, not the pace- and has been equally inviting to the young and old alike.
Mahesh Inder Veer Singh, chief operating officer, KMC Hospitals, told reporters here on Monday that Mary Hilda D'Souza, city-born first international veteran athletic champion will lead the run/walk that will begin at 7.30 am.
The run will begin from KMC Bejai and will end at the KMC Hospital. It will pass through Ambedkar Circle, traversing through Lalbagh, Mahatma Gandhi Road, P V S Circle, and Buntts Hostel Circle.
The senior interventional cardiologist of the hospital, Padmanabh Kamath, stressed on the importance of organizing events like World Heart Day to create awareness among people regarding the prevention of heart diseases.
