On Wednesday, Microsoft spurred excitement everywhere with the launch of a public beta of Office Mobile 2010, a move which has coincided with the technology giant's launch of MS Office
2010 Beta. Office 2010 has been specifically designed for smartphones and is a useful application for people who are always on the move.
As confirmed by Microsoft, the application will allow users to view, edit and create Office documents, use their phones for PowerPoint Presentations and will also aid them in staying connected with their SharePoint Workspace Mobile accounts.
"There are a ton of word processors out there -- but how many of them let you also do workflow management? What's really powerful about Office is to view it as a platform. The links to SharePoint and workflows, these are the kinds of things that set it apart", said Evolve Technologies CEO Dave Sobel. Evolve is a Fairfax based partner of Microsoft Gold.
Office 2010 seems to have taken the Office Mobile development a step further as it interacts effectively and exclusively with touch screen phones which run on the Windows Mobile 6.5 platform. The application offers users’ functionalities like syncing with Microsoft OneNote.
The Office Mobile 2010 is available for download in the Windows Marketplace for phones with the Win Mobile 6.5. Users can download the application for their phones till April 5, 2010.
