Search giant Google has invested approximately $86 million Low-Income House Tax Credit (LIHTC) fund, which would cater to help all low and below poverty line citizens to have an affordable living condition. It was further added that the fund is being administered by the U. S. Bancorp Community Development Corporation (USBCDC), better known as a community development arm of US Bancorp (USB).
The banking entity claims that the funds will help in construction and offering 480 affordable rental based houses in the West and Midwest regions of US. The investment is considered to be part of CSR which also will help in improve the image of the Google in public and caters to significant investments with environment friendly technologies.
It was further stated that Google will be putting in $38.8 million on two wind energy farms located in North Dakota, US. Google vice president and treasurer, Brent Callinicos stated: "In recent years there has been a void in affordable housing investment. Our investment with USBCDC allows us to further our goal of providing relief to people who otherwise may not have access to quality housing.”
