As per a recent study, the gene which leads to migraines in some people who possess this gene has been found. It is this gene which causes strong throbbing headaches which is experienced by many people.
This gene can also lead to a higher risk of migraines growing, as per the new study conducted by a group of genetic researchers and published in Nature Genetics. The study also examined 2,000 migraine patients and the genomes of 10,000 people who never experienced migraines.
It was seen that almost 25 percent of the migraine patients had a genetic variant which the non-migraine sufferers were missing.
Another study was conducted of more than double the participants to confirm the results in which 19 percent of the genetic variant was detected.
The genetic variant in question influences many other genes around it and regulate some proteins which in turn could affect transmissions of glutamate, causing them to reduce. Migraines are caused when glutamate builds up.
Genetic researchers could get a lot of help from this finding to develop a cure or effective preventative for migraine patients around the world.
