A Midland motorway which is usually very busy was shut for many hours right after a crash between two Lorries which was caused following a huge fuel spill.
The accident took place on M42 in the middle of junctions three and two at around 10:50am yesterday. One of the drivers of the HGVs, who was in his 30s, suffered cuts on his face and arms following the accident.
The second person, in his 50s, who was hurt, got treated for shock and both of them were taken to the Alexandra Hospital in Worcestershire. Out of both the Lorries, one has shed its load of diesel fuel, which led to the motorway closure as a precaution to avoid skidding.
According to a Highways Agency spokesperson, the incident lead to a four miles traffic congestion.
He said, “Two lorries had collided. One of the drivers, whose lorry’s cab was badly damaged and had become dismounted from the rest of the vehicle, had minor injuries. He was taken to the Alexandra Hospital for further assessment and treatment. The driver of the other lorry was uninjured but he was in shock and he was taken to the same hospital as a precaution.”
