Lisa Ray was looking as fresh as a daisy when she flew down to Mumbai from Canada. The first words spoken by her to introduce herself were, “My name is Lisa Ray and I am a cancer survivor”.

This is the way she chooses to introduce herself after she was diagnosed with the dreaded disease about two years ago.

She added, “My journey (through cancer) is still going on. People ask me ‘Lisa, what have you learnt?’ I tell them that I am still processing it.”

She continued to say, “Cancer has changed my whole life, and I am still learning what the disease taught me. But I can tell you for sure that without some people, which includes my family, I wouldn’t have been able to see it through.”

She recollects the difficult and trying moments that she went throughout the whole phase. “Cancer is not about healing the body. It’s about healing the mind. As a patient, I also had to go through fear and isolation. It’s a human thing. But we need to share our stories.”
