Suzuki’s SlingShot makes debut in South India

suzukiIn a bid to tap the entry and mid-level Indian consumer in the two-wheeler segment, Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Suzuki Motor Corporation has recently launched its new product SlingShot in the South Indian market.

Suzuki Motorcycle India Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Atul Gupta said that the company expects the product to sell close to 5,000 units in the initial phase across the country.

It is to be mentioned here that as the company is planning to increase its distribution network from the present 200 plus to 350 by 2012-end in the country, the SlingShot will be a right product to fill the gap in the Suzuki portfolio in the Indian market. It may be noted here that the company didn’t have any product in the 125cc since it discontinued Zeus and SlingShot is expected to take that place now.

For the uninitiated, the company is also working on a plan to ensure that it has ample capacity for the future and the company will be investing close to Rs. 500 crore by 2012 to double its production capacity.
