Diaspora aimed for 15 September release

facebookFacebook's one of the mighty rivals, Diaspora has staged its release for 15 September for its new social network.

BBC News reports, the developers of Diaspora have proclaimed through a blog post that the social network is ready to be released and will be live in no sooner than three weeks.

Diaspora was a start-up venture by three computer science students, and will prove to be an open source alternative to the social networking giant Facebook.

The developers of the platform offers users with the necessary control of information which the users wish to share.

The blog post of Diaspora stated: "That means an intuitive way for users to decide, and not notice deciding, what content goes to their co-workers and what goes to their drinking buddies. We know that's a hard [user interface] problem and we take it seriously."

The inadequacy in privacy settings and the way in which it shared user information with advertisers led Facebook to criticism by users and watchdogs at the same time boosted the Diaspora team to raise $200,642 to build the site.
