Continental AG, the fourth largest tyre maker in the world has said that it is eyeing big on the Indian market. Since the demand for tyres is so huge in Indian it is now trying to make a market for itself.
As per Helmut Matschi, Member of the Executive Board Continental AG, Interior Division Continental is most interested in the passenger car market and is looking for an opportunity to enter here.
He further added that nothing more could be added about the plans as everything is in the initial stage only.
As for the commercial tyre division, the same is present with a JV with Modi Tyres that was formed in 2009. Since then, as many as 100,000 tyres in Continental's name are released in the market.
While the Indian passenger car market is growing by 35-40 per cent that in the commercial segment is with 50 per cent. The two-wheeler market has been growing with 30 per cent and there is a large demand-supply gap.
