Logitech International has settled to acquire privately held high definition video communication provider LifeSize Communications, serving more than a 9,000 video-conferencing patrons in 80 countries, for $405 million in cash.
At the same time, the shares of Logitech fall 3% to cents to $18.04 in after-hours trading following the acquisition announcement.
Inspecting the sluggish rate of sales decline, Logitech reported 71% drop on the fiscal second quarter last month, consequently, the acquisition probable to be closed in December is likely to raise operating income in subsequent year, given that LifeSize is already expectant with revenue development of 40 - 60 percent in 2010.
Logitech deems that ahead of the desktop, the deal will bring a lot of integrity in the video communication dealing.
"We expect this acquisition to enable Logitech to extend our leadership in video communication beyond the desktop. Together we can make life-like, (high-definition)-quality video communication as mainstream and seamless as a telephone", said Gerald Quindlen, Chief Executive of Logitech.
