HTC introduced ‘HTC Desire’ in India

htc tata docomoHTC Corporation has announced the launch of much anticipated smartphone device called 'HTC Desire' in the Indian market. The company has entered into a partnership with telecom service provider Tata DoCoMo to launch the phone on its network in the country.

HTC Desire is based on Google’s android operating system Android 2.1 and is yet to get an update to Froyo and it features HTC’s Sense UI. The 3.7-inch AMOLED display of the device offers intense brilliance, sharp contrast and true colors, according to the company.

The device is powered by a 1-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor for enhanced speeds. It has 576MB of RAM which is a bit more than its sibling Nexus One with 512MB. The device also features a 5 mega pixel camera with video recording at WVGA resolution (800*480) at 15 fps.

The device sports similar design and looks to the Nexus One. It is 4.7 inches tall by 2.4 inches wide by 0.5 inch thick and weighs 4.76 ounces. It features physical buttons for home, menu, back, and search functions unlike N1.

The device has a 3.5mm headphone jack on top, Micro-USB port on the bottom and camera and flash are on back. In the US it comes with AC adapter, a USB cable, a wired stereo headset, an 8GB microSD card, and reference material and it is to been seen if it features similar material in India as well.

HTC also offers the advanced support for multi touch in the device. The company will also offer free data download of 500 MB per month for six months with the device to post paid customers of Tata DoCoMo. Tata DoCoMo customers will have to send a SMS with 'Android' to 54321 from their Desire handset to avail the offer.

It has a media player with support for most formats including MP3, AAC, WAV, WMV, and MP4. The memory of the phone can be expanded upto 32 GB using a MicroSD card.

HTC Desire will be available across the country through authorized dealers and will be priced at Rs 28,900.
