IBM has rolled out the latest systems based on Power 7, in addition to a server capable of scaling up to 256 cores, for its Unix venture.
The server is tainted to be one of the largest Unix based server that has ever been released by any firm and aims at utilizing large-scale database apps.
The Power795 servers are designed such that the high-duty firms fuse their Unix or Linux databases into one single server.
As of now only a few of the firms need a server that can employ the actual use of Power7, but IBM still believes that the processor can be employed for operations which requires massive energy and space savings.
The company states that these Power7 Unix servers comes with 8TB in memory and 8 processor 'books', each containing four processors.
IBM in addition to this adds that these new processors sync perfectly well with servers based on Power6 as well, providing an option to upgrade.
