Gay rights organization’s talks with Target did not yield

Gay rights organization’s talks with Target did not yieldOn Monday the country’s biggest gay rights organization stated that it would carry on with its protests against Target Corp for donating to the cause of election campaign of a Republican gubernatorial candidate who opposed rights for gay.

The organization stated those facts after its negotiation with Target Corp broke down.

According to the organization Target had rejected their proposal in which they asked the company to donate the gay rights organization to counterbalance its earlier donation to the republican candidate.

As Target is the first company to get hit by protests, done nationwide for donating to the election campaign, the company’s strategy of handling the confrontation was under the keen observation of the media.

It is a sensitive topic especially this year when the Supreme Court has given permission to corporate organizations and unions to use their money on election campaigns.

Whether Targets hundred percent rating on the Corporate Equality Index will be cut down is being contemplated by Human Rights Campaign. It is the maxim of corporate hiring diversity policies on a scale ranging from zero percent to hundred percent

Joe Solmonese, president of the group said that Targets donation for the electoral candidate was insulting but their refusal to donate to the gay rights organization was even more insulting which the group won’t forget that easily.

Target took the policy of “wait and see’ as the company’s donation has given birth to the controversy and protest came from all over the country. Face book even called for a boycott. An anti boycott site could also be found in facebook from conservatives who supported Target.

The company, in a statement stated that it won’t take any actions before thinking and deciding carefully on its further movements. Target added saying that any action taken by the company will turn into a political issue.
