The new smartphone from Motorola has showed that the company has the capability to create devices that area among the best in the market. The latest model of Milestone range which was released nine months ago called Milestone XT720 has propelled the company back to action and the device is pitted against the likes of HTC Desire, the Samsung Galaxy S and even Apple iPhone 4.

The Milestone XT720 leaves out the unnecessary slide out QWERTY keyboard that feature on earlier models and runs on Android 2.1 operating system featuring high end options like 720p video recording and a powerful
8-megapixel camera.

The device is designed a bit different with intentional angular style and features a navy blue rubberized finish across the handset's rear. The design is refreshing to some after a host of devise in the market came out with the standard candybar build.

The device has the dimensions of 116 x 60.9 x 10.9 mm and weighs only 160 grams. The screen of the device measures 3.7-inches with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. The device is powered by a rather slow 550MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor.

The 8MP camera comes with advanced features like xenon flash, 720p/24fps video, video recording, and playback. The camera also has other advanced features like digital zooming capabilities, red eye reductions, prevention of the camera shake and the detection of the face.

The battery of the phone offers a talk time of up to 9 hours and standby time of up to 320 hours. The phone has a sleek design and will appeal to the tech enthusiasts in the country. As for connectivity solutions it offers, Wi-Fi and HDMI support.

The phone offers 512 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM and 150 MB of internal storage which can be extended to up to 32GB through a MicroSd card slot. Among other multimedia features it offers, 3.5mm audio jack and FM Radio with RDS.

As like in other Android device it has five fully customizable home screens which can be scrolled on left and right. Some critics say that Android 2.1 is not the newest version and XT720 may be at a disadvantage because some devices in the market already run on the more advances and much faster Android 2.2.

It supports SMS with threaded view, MMS, Email, IM, Push Email and users can integrate the device with Google application: Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, and Google Talk. Being an Android device, it also offers access to full suite of Android apps available from the Android Market.

The Milestone XT720 is priced at around Rs.34,990 in the Indian market.
