Microsoft Corp’s Xbox 360 became the top selling video game console in the US last month out performing Nintendo Cox’s Wii for the first time since 2007. Microsoft achieved the top spot after introduction of its model equipped with wireless internet.  

Xbox 360’s sales in the last month got doubled reaching the amount of four hundred and forty three thousand five hundred units.  

The figure helped it to achieve the top spot for the first time since the month of September of 2007 as per statements given by researcher NPD Group Inc.  

According to the researcher customers bought two hundred and fifty three thousand nine hundred Wii consoles which are not very different from the previous year.

Sony PlayStation 3 saw a rise of seventy six percent reaching a figure of two hundred and fourteen thousand five hundred units.  

According to analyst Anita Frazier of NPD Xbox 360 became the top selling video game console for the month.  

It happened due to its higher number of sales of the new format which has a sleek look. According to the analyst Microsoft attained the top spot in 2007 when it released its exclusive title named “Halo 3”.

The overall sales of hardware got boosted for the demand of Xbox 3 in the last month. It went up by twelve percent. The results could counterbalance the decline of eight percent in revenue of software items.  

In later part of this year both Microsoft and Sony have plans to introduce motion controllers and they hope to increase their sales by doing so. Nintendo has plans for upgrading its hand-held console with a new model by which users will be able to see three dimensional images without sporting special glasses.
