Reliance communications has just entered an agreement with HTC, a Taiwan based company to manufacture a phone. The Taiwanese company will mow manufacture a new phone that will be 3G enabled for reliance communications to sell in India.
The new model, HTC wildfire, will have a number of services that are available in high- end handsets. The phone will be enabled with all major communication web pages. The phone will come equipped with applications to reach twitter, face book, flickr etc. In addition to this, the phone will also come with a 500 MB of data storage space and a 5 – mega-pixel camera. The HTC head for the India branch, Mr. Ajay Sharma, also said that that the phone will have better quality speakers, voice quality, data access, network coverage etc. The phone will also be fitted with all the existing phone features such as Wi– Fi , Bluetooth, headphone jack, GPS, microSD card slot etc.
The phone will attempt to break into a market of high- end phones by offering the same features for a lower price. Reliance communications, as per the agreement will release the phone in India. ADAG Reliance Communications will also provide a package that will include free data access for the first six months after purchase of the handset. The customer can avail of 500 MB of free data access for the first six months. The handset will be fitted with the GSM network.
The offer to release this 3G smart phone is a part of the Reliance Communications plan to reach out to the younger market with affordable phones fitted with high – end features. The Company is also aware that the competition in the market is stiff and the only way to beat the competition and survive is to provide quality and affordability. The phone will be priced at Rs. 16, 590.
