Yahoo Inc (YHOO. O), media reported that Japan's largest Internet portal site may take up Google search as its search engine as a replacement for Microsoft (MSFT. O).
Majority of Japan search market is ruled out by Yahoo Inc's search technology and Google.
Dow Jones newswires owner of Technology blog All Things Digital and Nikkei business daily said that it is expected that very soon Yahoo Japan will deal with Google.
It is anticipated that Yahoo Japan will disclose its association with Google on Tuesday when it will release its quarterly earnings at 3.10 p. m. The arrangement can be on larger scale taking into account mobile and other products.
Spokesperson of Yahoo Japan Toru Nagano confirmed the news of finding alternative search engine but had not announced the name of Google.
Yahoo strongly believes in improving the search engine. At present Yahoo Inc is the search engine for Yahoo Japan and it is said that it has signed a deal of 10 years with Microsoft in July 2009. The deal was signed with the purpose of saving hundreds of millions of dollars in a year.
Yahoo estimated that by 2012 it will complete its incorporation of its search engine with Microsoft in all 59 countries.
Before making an association with Microsoft, Yahoo Inc required an alliance with Google but fail to achieve it because it faces opposition from the U. S. government.
