A totally new twist has developed in the Fortis' bid for Parkway Holdings. Giving some relief to Fortis, which is trying to grab Parkway, the shareholders of the company have said that they are undecided over tendering their shares to Khazanah Nasional Berhad.
This has happened despite the deadline for the same has been extended.
Khazanah is a sovereign wealth fund that has increased its bid to takeover a majority stake in Parkway. It is the largest healthcare chain in Asia. But the fact is that it has also not received any assurance from the shareholders' to takeover 5 per cent of the number of shares needed to make it majority stakeholder.
The extended deadline is about to get over on Monday.
Only till Tuesday, the shareholders had given their official acceptance for the acquisition of 15.6 million, which is 5 per cent of the 313 million shares needed for the takeover. But they soon changed their course.
However, Khazanah is stern on its position and is saying that it has satisfied the second condition and that is making the open offer a success as it made 50.4 per cent of the shareholders vote in favor of the offer.
