Apple was reported to be the key player in the bid to take the smartphone maker Palm, but supposedly was back lashed when HP's gave the $1.2 billion offer, as reported by Business Insider.
It was further stated by the unnamed source that search giant Google and Blackberry maker Research in Motion were also in lieu of purchasing the company.
Apple on the other hand was keenly interested in taking up of Palm's library of intellectual property that comprised of more than 450 patents and 400 pending patent applications.
Apart from this Apple was ready to fund Palm's smartphone operations to challenge RIM's dominance; this was apart from the statement of low bidding.
Meanwhile the source lists out that Google entered the bidding arena just because 'Apple' was there.
RIM on the other hand came up with the highest bid and "had to work incredibly hard to blow" which eventually conquered via raising the bid and acquiring Palm.
